A 1.01 carat heart-cut natural sapphire in deep Royal Blue, held by three slim claws in polished 18K white gold, rests at the centre of a sunburst of pear-shaped diamonds. Small claw-set round diamonds catch the light between the petals and give the heart a soft, radiant outline.

Sapphire is hard-wearing, but a sharp knock can still chip it. Clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush, and skip ultrasonic or steam cleaners, as the pear diamonds and fine pavé can loosen. Store on its own in a soft pouch, so the raised claws do not catch, and have the claws and pavé checked yearly.
